Back in 1991, the U.S. Clinton Administration unveiled "Plan Colombia" a massive Military and Social support program valued at US$ 1.3 Billion Dollars. Through this progam, the Fuerza Aerea Colombina (FAC) obtained OV-10A's from the United States.
The United States Air Force provided the (FAC) with 12 OV-10A's back in 1991. The U.S. Navy later provided an additional 3 Ex-United States Marine (USMC) OV-10A's, the (FAC) received permission to cannibalize the three Ex-USMC A's because they were too difficult to support due their different configurations. In December 1997, the (FAC) lost an OV-10A due to operational hazards.
Their actual fleet as of October, 2007 consist of 11 operational aircraft which are operated by Combat Group 21 / Combat Squadron 211, based at BAM3 Apiay, Villavicencio (Airport Identifier SKAP). Recently, the (FAC) engaged with Mesa, Arizona based Marsh Aviation, Inc. for an upgrade service program which one feature included the installation of four-bladed propellers as shown above.
