The sun bleached AT-26 Brazilian made "EMB-326GB Xavantes" shown above, which are based at the Silvio Pettrossi International Airport (Airport Identifier SGAS) and attached to the 1st Fighter Squadron of the Paraguayan Air Force may not look it, but they constitute the "Sharp End of the Spear" for the Paraguayan Air Force fighting force.
Of the ten that were delivered, this example survived into the 21st Century along with 4 others. A replacement for the AT-26s is not in sight, but some additional "Xavantes" might be obtained 2nd hand from Brazil in the near future. Unfortunately, the current National Paraguayan budget does not allow it much room to consider other suitable platforms from either the United States or overseas suppliers.
